What I fit and fix

  • CCTV installation

New systems on UniFi Protect. Cable run through the loft and inside the walls wherever the house allows, with no cables on show unless absolutely necessary. Cover-up options available.

    from £995

  • Repairs and takeovers

Someone else has fitted the system and now it's stopped recording, a camera is offline, or nobody knows the password. Give us a call and we'll find out why. Call-out and diagnosis £60, then repairs from £85.

    from £85

  • Doorbells and wireless cameras

Video doorbells and battery cameras fitted and set up on your phone. We'll give our honest opinion on whether a full system would be better, but the final say is yours.

    from £79

  • Wi-Fi and networking

Dead spots sorted with mesh or cabled access points. Cameras are only as good as the network under them.

    from £99

The house from above with five cameras, a doorbell and what each one covers Amber is what the cameras that are switched on can see. Dashed patches are ground none of them can see. C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 D1

88% of the ground around the house is covered. A camera on every corner, carefully aimed so nothing is missed.

What each camera sees

Every survey ends with a drawing and the view from each camera, so you know what you're getting before anything goes on the wall. Here's one for an example house. Pick a camera on the plan or with the buttons. Masked means never recorded.

Survey drawing of the house with five cameras and a doorbell The house from above with its drive, front garden, side passage and back garden. Five cameras under the soffits and a video doorbell by the front door; amber shows what each one covers inside the boundary, and the hatched parts past the boundary are masked, so they are never recorded. The amber light is what each camera covers. The masked part is next door and the pavement. Masked means never recorded.
Camera 1, Drive & garage, day view: The drive, the car and the garage door, out to the pavement. The road and next door’s lawn are masked.

Without masking, this camera would record next door and the street.

How we like to run a CCTV job

  1. A hand holding a clipboard with a house plan on the drive, the house and garage behind

    Survey

We come round for free at a time that suits you. We listen to what you want and how you want it done, then talk through how we think it can be achieved and any changes that are needed.

  2. The survey drawing printed out on a kitchen table, with a pencil

    Drawing

You get a plan like the one above: each camera, what it sees, what is masked, where the cables go, and a written quote.

  3. A gloved hand fixing a white turret camera flat to the underside of the soffit, no cable showing

    Fitting day

Cables go through the loft, cavities and soffits. Holes are sealed, and any mess is tidied.

  4. A phone in a kitchen showing all five camera views of the house

    Handover

The UniFi Protect app goes on your phones. I show you how to find footage, save a clip and check every camera is recording.

The kit: Ubiquiti UniFi Protect

We fit one camera system and know it inside out. Your footage stays within your local system, there's no monthly fee, and the app is very easy to get used to.

Covered

  • The recorder and app set-up I did

Not covered

  • Accidental damage, or changes someone else makes
  • Your broadband or router

This doesn't affect your statutory rights.

The garden and patio camera's view, with the gardens over the fences hatched out

Your cameras, their garden

Once a camera can see past your boundary, into next door's garden, a shared drive or the pavement, data protection law applies to you as well as to them.

So every drawing shows what each camera can't see as well as what it can, and the parts that aren't yours are masked out of the recording.

Next door is never recorded.
